Seems as if Micro$oft has attempted to finally play catch-up to create a decent web presence. Recently it has revamped hotmail and added some services such as photo gallery (to challenge flickr) and social networking/bloging called spaces (to challenge myspace/facebook/livejournal). All these new(ish) services are collected under the name live.com. Rather than straight forward web-apps, MS decided to include desktop applications that interact with the web offerings. The only benefit supposedly is that content can be created while a user is without ‘net access, but it seems more likely that MS just doesn’t know how to write a decent web-app.
So, the unfortunate point of this post is that I’m using "Windows Live Writer" to write and post this entry (and I sort of like it.) Unlike typical windoze apps, it’s not soley tied into my "spaces" page provided by MS, and seemed to play nice with wordpress (the software running the look of calverts.org).
